Why You Should Always Take the Stairs

An elevator in Chile goes berserk, ascending 31 stories in 15 seconds, and when it gets to the top floor IT JUST KEEPS GOING, crashing into the roof of the building. Omgomgomg. What do you do in a situation like this? YouTube commenters are divided on what to do should this ever occur in an elevator YOU’RE riding. Either: Lie down with your feet up, that way you can absorb the shock when hitting the ceiling… or maybe try and wedge yourself against the wall and floor, if possible using your feet to brace against another wall.  Alternatively,  you could grab onto a handrail and try to hold tight. Most people, though, seem to think you should just put your head between your knees and kiss your ass goodbye.

From Click on it Detroit:

Surveillance video shows Jose Vergara Acevedo, 31, entering the elevator of a recently-constructed building in Providencia. Before the doors can close, the elevator begins its wild ascent. Acevedo frantically presses buttons on the control panels, but nothing works. There’s a crash and the camera goes black.

Acevedor didn’t die, btw, he is in stable condition, with serious head and leg injuries, but may never walk again.
