When I first heard that Chance the Rapper sang a rendition of “Arthur’s theme” at the Sasquatch! Music Festival in Portland, I got all misty-eyed and thought of the great Christopher Cross songs of my youth – “Think of Laura,” “Sailing,” “Ride Like the Wind” and whatnot– I was a bit of a wussy, you know. Loved that stuff. Listened to it and cried like a girl thinking of Joe Battaglia in my French class and how he’d never love me. Sigh. So, yeah, of course I’d LOVE to hear a new version of “Arthur’s Theme”! Then my hopes were dashed. Turns out the “Arthur’s Theme” he sang wasn’t the one about the charmingly befuddled alcoholic, it’s about the cartoon mouse/rabbit/aardvark/wtf from PBS which I know absolutely nothing about because I’m old. I grew up in the ’70s. But here you go. I’m posting it anyway because all the millennials in the audience seem to be really grooving on it, so I guess it means something to THEM. Enjoy.
