2016 is RIGHT around the corner. As we say “goodbye, so long, adios, arrive darchi” to 2015 – and figure out our NYE Kiss strategy – it’s a good time to “hasta la vista” some bad office habits and say “hello“ to some new ones. Here’s my five (simple) New Year’s Resolutions you can take to work with you:
1) BE ON TIME
This is the ONE and only time I’m not going to endorse Kim Zolciak’s club banger, “Don’t Be Tardy For The Party”:
There’s a million and one reasons why the plummer is at your house at 9am (really, gross?!), but coming into work late in the new year makes it seem like you can’t manage, well, your time.
2) DON’T BE HUNGOVER
Sure, it’s winter and (every bottle of) red wine looks appetizing while you’re netflix-and-chilling for one, but you’re in your mid to late twenties now: save the lemon drop shots for Fridays and Saturdays.
Working for the weekend will also make that dirty martini SO much more rewarding.
3) PACK A LUNCH
I know it’s fun to constantly:
But eating out 5 days a week – on top of your (necessary) twice-a-day Starbucks runs – will LITERALLY burn a hole in your wallet. You can stock up on tons of yummy (and healthy) produce or ready-made meals at your local Trader Joe’s to keep your belly (and your bank) happy til the weekend when you can splurge on your neighborhood’s bottomless mimosa special at brunch.
4) DRESS THE PART
You don’t have to have an excuse for dressing up for anyone but yourself. Styling a nice look will make you feel good, give you more confidence, and prepare you for a full day of compliments from your co-workers on said cute outfit.
5) DO SOMETHING NICE
I know the Monday through Friday grind can seem…well:
But routine doesn’t have to feel mundane. Since you got your professional and careers goals on lock, try reaching out and help out a co-worker with something they are struggling with.
It’s good karma, you’ve built a new friendship, and I guarantee with that attitude, doors will open for you in the long run.
Try one of these (or all five) out come Monday morning!
