Daniel Nardicio and Andy Brattain are throwing a party for what would be the 100th birthday of the legend, Edith Piaf on Saturday, December 19th with some MAJOR talent. Backed by the American Pops Orchestra and conducted by Luke Frazier, is a one of a kind celebration bringing in one room the diverse styles of 8 incredible women; Elaine Paige, Christine Ebersole, Marilyn Maye, Vivian Reed, Little Annie, Gay Marshall, Molly Pope, and cabaret sensation Meow Meow at Town Hall in NYC.
Elaine Paige played the title role in Evita and originated several other roles in shows on London’s West End including Hair, Grease, Cats, Chess, Sunset Boulevard, Sweeney Todd, The Drowsy Chaperone and Follies (just to name a few). You can watch her as Piaf, below.
Broadway’s own sweetheart, two-time Tony winner (42nd Street & Grey Gardens), Christine Ebersole, shares the bill. And, Marilyn Maye, the woman Ella Fitzgerald anointed:
“the greatest white female singer in the world.”
and who also holds the title for most appearances for a singer (76!) on The Tonight Show. Joining the star-studded line-up are the cabaret star Meow Meow, Little Annie (most notably from the punk band Coil), Tony nominee (Bubbling Brown Sugar) and vocal powerhouse, the electric Vivian Reed, nationally known Piaf interpreter Gay Marshall, and local downtown ingénue Molly Pope. Tickets are available here and there are VIP packages available with an intimate meet-and-greet with the performers after the show. (To inquire about loge seat packages, email Daniel@dworld.us. I’ll see you there!)
