I struggle with the Smith family, I really do. On the one hand, they drive me bonkers. The smugness, my GOD, the smugness. And the privilege! ARGH. But… there was a time when I loved Will. We all did. And Jada is actually pretty compelling on Gotham. And I was proud of Jaden for wearing that dress at Coachella. Then there’s Willow. Yes, let’s talk about Willow. She made a video for her song “F Q-C #7” ( or “Frequency Number Seven,” I believe) which debuted exclusively on Tidal two weeks ago. It’s… interesting. Kind of pretentious, but she’s 14, remember. And I’m not going to hate on a 14-year-old for trying on new personas and testing the limits of her creativity and whatnot. The song is actually good in a Bjork-meets-Solange kind of way. I would have been all over it at 14. So I’m giving her props for it, and think she definitely has potential to grow into someone genuinely fascinating. Watch it and let me know what you think.
