Well, three outta eight ain’t 1/3 bad. Quentin Tarantino’s bloody new production, The Hateful Eight –his eight film, btw – corrals two quartets of the nastiest gunslingers in the West in a snowed-in frontier way station. Tarantino says:
“For me it has more of a Western Iceman Cometh kind of vibe about it. A bunch of guys in a room who can’t trust each other… that wasn’t a marching order when I sat down to write the script, but pretty quickly I realized this is kind of a nice coming-full-circle.”
The cast is a Who’s Who of the Quentin’s go-to actors; Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Walton Goggins, Bruce Dern, plus QT virgins like Demián Bichir and Jennifer Jason Leigh who says:
“I knew Quentin, but I had never had a chance to work with him, and I really wanted to.”
After a script leak last January, Tarantino announced he was shelving the movie, but after a live script read-through, he was convinced to green-light the project.
