Ricardo Medina Jr. aka the Red Power Ranger on Power Rangers Wild Force (who later went on to play Dekker on Power Rangers Samurai) was busted Saturday afternoon by L.A. County Sheriff’s deputies  in Palmdale, CA  for stabbing and killing his roommate, Joshua Sutter.

From TMZ:

According to law enforcement … Medina retreated to his bedroom with his girlfriend — but Sutter forced his way into the bedroom … and that’s when Medina allegedly stabbed him once in the abdomen with the sword.

Medina called 911 and waited for for cops to arrive. He was arrested and booked for murder. Sutter was transported to a hospital … where he was pronounced dead.

He’s still in jail, and bail has been set at one million dollars.

No reports yet if he used the Ranger’s Megaforce Battle Ultra Sword to commit the crime.

This, of course, is just another sad chapter in the ongoing legacy of Power Rangers who have been CURSED by the show.

  • Skylar Deleon, a teen actor who had a minor, non-speaking role, was convicted for killing Tom and Jackie Hawks of Prescott, Arizona. Prosecutors say the Power Ranger  feigned interest in buying the couple’s yacht and killed them during a test cruise in 2004. Deleon overpowered them on a test cruise, tied them to an anchor and tossed them into the Pacific Ocean as they begged for their lives, according to the prosecution. After the yacht killings, the prosecution said, Deleon and his then-wife Jennifer Henderson scrubbed the boat clean with bleach wipes in Newport Harbor. The Hawkes bodies were never found. Skylar and his wife is serving life in prison.
  • David Yost played Billy Cranston for four years, but all was not well off-screen. Yost revealed in a 2010 interview that he suffered at the hands of bullying from the show’s production crew over his sexual orientation, who he claims told him he “could not be a superhero” because he was homosexual. Yost quit and tried to ‘pray the gay away’ with conversion therapy for two years before having a nervous breakdown which required five weeks of psychiatric care.
  • Thuy Thang, the actress who played the original Yellow Ranger Trini Kwan in the original series and voiced Circuit in Time Force, died on September 3, 2001 in a car crash when the car she was a passenger in lost control, hit a roadside rock-face and fell over a safety barrier. She died from her injuries on the way to the hospital. She was 27. The episode “Ciruit Unsure”, was dedicated in her memory.
  • Walter Emanuel Jones played the ruff and tumble, in your face Black Ranger. Taylor lost his middle finger during the filming of the show. Taylor seems to have escaped the worst of the curse, however he is forever deprived of giving the finger to annoying fans that constantly point out the irony of the black guy playing the Black Ranger.
  • Bob Manahan, the actor who voiced Zordon in the original series died on June 30, 2000 of an aneurysm at the age of just 44.
  • Eric Frank, Jason David Frank‘s brother and the actor who played David Trueheart in Zeo, died on April 16, 2001 of an heart illness at the age of 29.
  • Jack Banning, the actor who played Professor Phenomenus in Lost Galaxy, died on July 10, 2005 at the age of 75.
  • Bob Papenbrook, the actor voiced Rito Revolto in the original series, Deviot in Lost Galaxy and played Mike the Fishing Shop Clerk in Wild Force, died of chronic lung complications on March 17, 2006 at the age of 50.
  • Valerie Ann Vernon better know as Kendrix Morgan, the Pink Ranger on Power Rangers: Lost Galaxy. The Curse hit Vernon while she was still on the show as a diagnosed with Leukemia. She stopped acting shortly after the diagnosis, and thanks to distancing herself from the show has been able to recover.
  • Machiko Soga, the original actress of Rita Repulsa, left the series in 1994 after Saban ran out of the Japanese footage of the series. She returned in Mystic Force‘s Sentai counterpart to film her scenes as the Mystic Mother on 2004. According to Cartoon Network Magazine Japan in 2005 confirmed that she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and later lost her battle on May 7, 2006 at the age of 68. The last episode of Mystic Force, “Mystic Fate”, was dedicated in her memory.
