Sir Elton John and David Furnish officially married Sunday on the ninth anniversary their civil partnership, under new laws implemented in England earlier this year that now allow same-sex marriages. They posted this picture preparing to sign official documents.
“That’s the legal bit done. Now on to the ceremony!”
They planned a big celebration at their estate near Windsor Castle. The nuptials were no surprise as Elton had Tweeted about the plans. Sir Elton also seems to have joined Instagram just to post pics of their big day. He posted the cosy shoe shot below with the caption;
“Our little ring bearers are fast asleep, and their shoes are polished and ready for tomorrow’s celebration. @DavidFurnish #ShareTheLove”
The ceremony was in their own chapel/ art gallery with the vows being said (below) before a Damien Hirst sculpture of dove (The Incomplete Truth, 2006) under a Gilbert & George painting (and I think that’s a Philip Taaffe on the far right.) The menu was traditional and very posh (including Posh herself, David and and their entire brood) with wild mushroom soup with truffle cream, beef short rib with caramelized onion pie and warm chocolate pudding with vanilla ice cream for dessert. In a post, Brooklyn Beckham, below with Mom, offered congratulations to “Uncle Elton and Uncle David.” It looks like an A-list/famiy affair, the way you might do it if you were knighted (and were worth half a billion!) Congrats! #sharethelove #sharethewealth
