Wowlebrity Marilyn Manson has released an upbeat (for him) dance-metal song just in time for the holidays. His album Pale Emporer is out January 16th. Pre-order at MarilynManson.com and get an instant download of “Deep Six.”

From Rolling Stone:

Marilyn Manson has offered up a new dance-floor stomper, “Deep Six,” from his upcoming record, The Pale Emperor. The track pulsates with a four-on-the-floor disco beat, complemented with depressive, gothy post-punk guitar textures. The Antichrist Superstar sings about how love is evil and makes subtextual puns out of Greek mythology, singing, “You wanna know what Zeus said to Narcissus/’You better watch yourself.’” The song is available as an instant-gratification download for those who pre-order the album, which comes out January 20th.

The singer recently commented on the post-punkish direction of The Pale Emperor‘s music in an interview with The Fader, citing a salacious scene in the movie Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me as an oblique inspiration. “[It's] the overall vibe of the scene, when they’re in the Pink Room and Laura Palmer and her friend are getting oral sex from someone and there’s a band playing in the background that’s sort of like the Cramps,” he said.

He also cited a specific genre as a new influence. “What I hadn’t ever found, ’til now, is the blues,” Manson said. “The blues changed the way that I sang. And the music has a melody and a language in and of itself.”
