SO excited for “American Horror Story: Freak Show” to kick off tonight –even though JSJ shared a review the other day that was less than glowing. But learning that the hit franchise will welcome a transgender performer makes us want to watch even more. Erika Ervin will star alongside series regulars as “Amazon Eve,” a role she says was originally written for a man. She recalls in this video;
“I auditioned for the part as a guy, slicked back my hair, no make-up…flannel shirt, bound my breasts, dropped my voice and walked in, and nailed it.”
She also says here she thinks the trans community could learn from the show’s message about accepting different types, sizes and varieties.
“It’s more than a freak show. There’s a family here.”
